近年各國對於中國的不信任感逐漸加深，近期紛紛祭出TikTok禁用政策，更是表達對中國社群媒體在隱私和安全問題的憂慮。它們主要的擔憂來自於這家公司與中國政府關係密切，並掌握全球用戶數據，進而危害使用者的個人隱私，以達到官方掌握特定資訊的目的。

to restrict 限制
這個動詞是「限制、妨礙」的意思。名詞變化restriction，字尾加上-tion，而形容詞restrictive，字尾-tive。同義詞有restrain、constrict等。
例句》The government has restricted freedom of movement into and out of the country.（政府已經限制出入境自由了。）
restrict本身是及物動詞，和前例句相同，後面直接加上受詞即可。
例句》Having small children really restricts your social life.（家裡有很小的孩子確實會妨礙你的社交生活。）
to escalate 增強、惡化、加劇
這個動詞常見於表達事態惡化的情境。一般人較熟悉的escalator就是其名詞變化，「手扶梯」的意思；相較於「電梯」是elevator，elevate則有「提升」的意思。
例句》His financial problems escalated after he became unemployed.（他失業後，經濟問題更是雪上加霜。）
而escalate加上ing變成現在分詞後，可以表達「不斷上升的」之意，如以下例句中所說的加速的通膨率。
例句》The escalating rate of inflation will almost certainly bring escalating prices.（通貨膨脹率不斷上升，幾乎肯定會導致物價攀升。）
